Carpool | Walkers | Bike Riders

Carpool Procedures

  • Parents and guardians should remain in their cars.
  • We strongly encourage families to enter the parking lot from the west and exit the parking lot to the east to keep traffic moving.
  • Due to safety issues when students cross Ladue Road, parking at the cemetery and staff parking lot is strongly discouraged.
  • Please turn off all phone and computer devices.
  • Please be patient. It always takes some time to get back into the routine at the beginning of the year.

AM Carpool Procedures

  1.  Students may enter the building no earlier than 8:35 a.m. All students arriving before 8:35 a.m. should wait in their cars.
  2. Enter the blacktop and turn right only. On heavy-traffic days, begin forming two lines immediately. Follow the carpool line around as indicated on the diagram below. Please plan on forming four lines if you arrive before 8:35 a.m. If traffic is light, four lines will not be needed. Merge back into one line and proceed to the painted numbers on the blacktop.
  3. Pull all the way up to the #1 spot that is painted on the blacktop to drop off your child(ren). (Please refer to the diagram below.) Although it seems natural to stop at the corner and allow your child(ren) to enter the school, this prevents other families from dropping off their child(ren) safely and efficiently.

PM Carpool Procedures

  1. Students are dismissed at 3:45 p.m. Please do not arrive before 3:30 p.m.
  2. Enter the blacktop and turn right only. On heavy-traffic days, begin forming two lines immediately. Follow the carpool line around as indicated on the diagram below. Plan on forming four lines. Merge back into one line and proceed to the painted numbers on the blacktop.
  3. Please have your family name card displayed in the windshield.  A Reed staff member will greet you and check your name card. We ask that you have this sheet ready and visible at carpool pick up. To ensure safety, we will ID anyone who does not have the sheet.
  4. In addition, please let the office know if your child is getting picked up by anyone other than their usual person.
  5. When leaving the blacktop, plan on making a right turn onto Ladue Road to keep traffic moving. Certain situations (traffic accidents, heavy traffic, funerals) require us to limit left turns onto Ladue Road.

Change in Dismissal Procedure

NOTE:  Any changes to your student’s dismissal routine should be emailed to reedps@ladueschools.net. Please include your child’s teacher in the email. You may also call the main office at (314) 991-1456 no later than 3:15 p.m. Students may not change their dismissal plans without notification from a parent or guardian.

Walkers and Bike Riders

  • All kindergarten and first-grade parents picking up their children should show the Reed-issued name card to the walker supervisor.
  • If coming from the west, drop off and/or pick up children at the far northwest corner of the Reed path/track.
  • If coming from the east, drop off and/or pick up children at the sidewalk next to the flagpole.
  • Please refrain from parking at the cemetery and walking across Ladue Road to retrieve your child(ren).
  • There is a bike rack located near the flagpole (for those coming from the east) and a bike rack near the playground(for those coming from the west). Children who bike need to wear helmets and walk their bikes across streets at designated crosswalks.
  • As an added safety measure, a staff member will supervise walkers/bike riders when they are dismissed.
